Where We Stayed: Hyatt Regency Orange County

Our second trip to Disneyland. This trip was a quick whirlwind. We spent two days exploring the parks (one at Disneyland, and another split between Disneyland and California Adventure). However, the main goal of this trip was to attend Oogie Boogie Bash, Disneyland’s annual Halloween Party.

Back in July, we had to fight to get tickets for the Halloween Party, as they are very competitive. After logging in and joining an online queue on four different devices, we were able to snag two tickets to one of the party nights in August.
We dressed up as characters from the Pixar movie “Up.” I am dressed as Russell, a Wilderness Explorer (the equivalent of a boy scout) and Sam’s hat is based on Kevin, a bird in the movie. We got lots of compliments, and I even met a few other Russells. I made Sam’s hat and some of Russell’s accessories (sash, badges, flag).

A big draw of this event is the Villain treat trails. You’re able to walk through a trail and interact with a villain that usually isn’t available to meet in the parks. Then, at the end of the trail, you get candy. We had fun interacting with and watching the shows from the different villains. A few of the rides also had fun Halloween overlays, including the Honking Halloween version of Luigi’s cars ride, which we enjoyed.
Overall, we had a great time, and I’m glad we were able to attend this very sought-after party!
