Just after Christmas we headed off to Philadelphia to spend the week between Christmas and New Years relaxing and working from the east coast. When we arrived in Philly, we were greeted with a giant “Congrats” sign, and cupcakes celebrating my recent graduation from grad school, which was a very sweet surprise!
There are very few photos or stories to tell from this trip, because we honestly spent most of the week relaxing, wandering around different neighborhoods outside of Philadelphia, playing board games, and eating. Our biggest food discovery of this trip was the restaurant El Merkury, which has a stand in Reading Terminal Market. We visit Reading multiple times on every single trip out to Philly, but this restaurant was new to the market, and most of their food was gluten free, so I had to try it. It was incredible, possibly even better than our normal meals from the market, and we are super excited to enjoy more of that on a future trip out to Philly.
We also made our usual brie cheese topped with honey and walnuts, though on this trip, Shannon and I also created a fun cheese board, complete with a salami rose and balsamic glaze topped parmesan. It was incredibly delicious.
We loved our relaxing holiday week out in Philly! While there isn’t too much in terms of photos to show what a great time we had, trust me in that it was a wonderful way to decompress after a crazy year and a great way to ring in 2022!
