Where We Stayed: Hyatt Place at Anaheim Resort/Convention Center

Trip Highlights:

  • First Trip to Disneyland!

Favorite Restaurants:

  • Whatever we could find in the parks

We took another quick weekend trip, this time to Anaheim, California for my first trip to Disneyland. We flew in on Saturday and visited the parks on Sunday and Monday.

Disneyland

We spent all day Sunday in Disneyland park. Throughout the course of the day we rode nearly every ride in the park, from the classics to the newest rides like Star Wars Rise of the Resistance and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Rise of the Resistance stood out to us, because despite neither of us being big Star Wars fans, the ride was incredibly impressive and immersive. We even got a little peek into Club 33, Disneyland’s exclusive (and pricey) club when we peeked our heads in as someone walked out the door.

California Adventure

Monday (Sam’s Birthday) was spent at Disney’s California Adventure. This park was also celebrating Chinese & Vietnamese New Year, so there were extra treats and events available in celebration. This park was pretty good, but there was definitely less that interested us compared to Disneyland. We really enjoyed the Incredicoaster and the Cars ride. About halfway through the day we were hit with a massive thunderstorm, which drenched us as we left the park for a little midday break.

Overall, we loved Disneyland, possibly more than Disney World in Florida. We both agreed that on our next trip we would switch up the proportions of our time, so we spent 1.5 days at Disneyland and only a half day at California Adventure.
