Where We Stayed: Hyatt Place St. Louis/Chesterfield

In June 2021, we took quick weekend trip out to St. Louis to spend a day at Six Flags St. Louis. This was one of our quickest trips yet, with us back to Milwaukee in less than 48 hours.

Our flight brought us in to St. Louis late Friday night. We made our way to our hotel in a suburb outside of St. Louis. We crashed for the night to ensure we could get to the park close to when it opened the following day.

Despite it only being June, this weekend was in St. Louis was HOT. We knew from the forecast that the temps were going to be in the upper 90s, and at the park later that day they even reached into the 100s. The good thing about this was that while most of the park guests flocked to the water park, we had our run of the roller coasters mostly to ourselves.

Throughout the day we were able to ride nearly every roller coaster in the park, some of them twice. We really enjoyed their wooden roller coasters, and were even able to ride one of the biggest wooden coasters in the park, The Boss, in the front row.

We finished up at the park around 3 pm, and caught an Uber back to our hotel to escape the heat for a while.

For dinner, we visited our favorite barbeque restaurant we discovered during our previous trip to St. Louis, Sugarfire Smoke House. It was just as delicious as we remembered (though Sam unfortunately got a slightly overcooked batch of ribs on his order – mine were great though!). I even had a bit extra for an extra tasty breakfast the next day.

Sunday we slept in a bit, checked out of the hotel, and made our way to the airport. With a 2 pm flight, we didn’t have time to do much else in the St. Louis area, so instead we spent the remaining hours before our flight in the Wingtips lounge in the St. Louis airport before boarding our short flight back to Milwaukee.
