In August 2019, we spent one night in Chicago to spend one night visiting a few places throughout the city, including the Hamilton Experience, which was on tour in town.

After a quick lunch at Nando’s, we had a few hours to kill before our ticketed time at the Hamilton Exhibition, so we decided to walk the mile and a half from one side of Millennium Park to the other to get closer to the exhibition. It was a nice day, so the walk was relaxing through the park next to the lake.

The main event that day was the Hamilton Exhibition. This was a traveling museum created by the creative team behind the musical Hamilton that talked about the actual American history behind the story and how they used that history to create the musical. While it was a little crowded, we still enjoyed it and seeing the ways that they represented the different historical events and scenes in the musical in an artistic way throughout the exhibition.

After checking into our hotel, we had a great steak dinner at Sweetwater Tavern and Grill around the corner and walked across the river for dessert at the Ghiradelli ice cream shop. Both were delicious!

We spent Sunday morning before heading home at the Museum of Science and Industry. I love that museum, and Sam had never been there before, so we had a great time wandering through the museum together. It was luckily pretty empty that day, so we were able to enjoy some of the exhibits that are usually too crowded to enjoy, such as the mirror maze.

It was a quick trip away, but we always love visiting Chicago when we can!
